Breezy Days are here again

sayuri
Please pardon my lack of posting much, but I finally have something of substance to add and (very importantly) have decided to actually get off my butt and add it.

For a long time, I've had this idea for a webcomic called "Breezy Days" in my head. I've thought up characters, backstory, plot, various situations, and even the main character's pet kitten. Unfortunately, my artistic skills are...not so good. Therefore, I wasn't sure what to do and stalled on it for ages.

Until now. I have actually drawn the first strip by hand, and inked it too...all in one night. It's amazing, I've realized, how little time it takes to read (or appreciate) any kind of book or movie or artwork or statue or song or even one single comic strip, when compared to the time and effort the artist spent getting the darned thing right or even just presentable.

I won't say too much about the strip just now, except that it's a light-hearted story about a girl named Bridget (known on the Internet as Breezy), her boyfriend Adrian, her ex-boyfriend who is a fat "starving artist", and the wacky situations they all get into. Unfortunately, story ideas tend to take me about fifteen seconds to think up and two hours to draw in a single strip, but I'll try to be brave and actually draw the strip regularly (more or less). Hopefully some people will like it. :)

First installment to come tomorrow, when I get access to a scanner at work as I don't have my own. But it may be time to purchase one.

Couple of suggestions based on friends/ppl I've known who have done webcomics.

If you're planning to be serious about this, I'd try to get about 1-2 months ahead before starting to put stuff out, and that will also give you a hint as to how long it will take you. Add in a major buffer to that average time, as things do happen.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I was new and impatient...after all that drawing. :D I still would like to put the first one up soon though.

That's fine, just don't promise anything more until you've got a buffer.

The reliable ones always have a buffer, the others ended up milkcartoning it eventually.

I will, thanks for the interest. Although broccoman's advice is leading me to think I better just post the first few strips here as a friends-only thing. You will still get to see them though. :)

I didn't mean to go that far, what I meant was not to start advertising/making things open until you had a few in the pocket, and underpromise so you can overdeliver.

Actually...what I meant was that I would start out by putting the strips I do for friends only, initially. Then, after a decent backlog I'll start releasing them to "the public".

I've done the first one...and am nervous. I know it's not very good, and it's only a draft, but I gotta start somewhere. :)
