Being (relatively) poor sucks.

I've been on a travel book reading spree. Now I want to go to Japan and have fun. And America. And Beijing.

Especially Beijing.

How I can afford it is another question.

Also, it really annoys me that the official Chinese DVD of the Olympics opening ceremony had to go and skip frames right before the torch arrives. Way to kill the mood, DVD. Darn it...This is the second time someone in my household has bought a DVD that skips frames. The first time was when I bought the Azumanga Daioh boxset - Now the episodes with the first culture fest and the trip to Okinawa are unwatchable. (Darn it, even the characters in my favourite anime can afford big trips and I can't! ...Yeah, I know it was a school requirement to go on that one...) Maybe a computer shop will be able to fix these imperfections.

I wonder if any of the other Olympics opening ceremonies have been released on DVD. If they have, I must go and find them.

Addendum: Sometimes, I feel like I have to "speak" in a snarky, "this is crap" tone when posting. Like just now, for instance. Why is that? Must be the influence of some of my friends...no names given, but there are a couple of people I'm thinking of! :)
But seriously, even though I talk so much about how I get ANNOYED by pessimism, I often have trouble looking on the bright side myself. Which is probably why I talk so much about it. Having thought a lot about projection, and the way people's minds work, has certainly not made me perfect, although I hope it has made me more understanding and quicker to recognize my own imperfections. ...And being a take-no-prisoners perfectionist is one of them.

Are there any visible marks on the underside of the DVD? It might be your DVD player rather than the DVD itself.

Thanks. Yes, the problem may be with the DVD player, it plays up in other regards now and then. But those two DVDs were the only ones that skipped frames.
